Village House Singing

Butterflies and a few Caterpillars prepare for their trip to sing at the Village House.
We sang Jingle Bells, Away In A Manger, J-E-S-U-S, A Cold Winter's Night, Jesus Loves Me, Jesus Loves the Little Children and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.  The program was thoroughly enjoyed by those at the Village House.

Fun with Parents

We LOVE parent volunteers!
Isaac's mom was helping Caterpillars make bracelets.

Aiden and Lyla's dad was helping some Buterflies with their engineering.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We had quite an extended week of Thanksgiving projects, including Hand Turkeys, Indian headresses, necklaces, and special Turkey Treats, in preparation for our Feasts Monday and Tuesday.

Our Feast Tables were pushed together and decorated with special Pilgrim hats and runners of even more hand turkeys.  Our room moms outdid themselves with yummy snacks.
The children cut out leaf shapes and wrote on them the things for which they are thankful, decorating our classroom even more.

Stop, drop, and roll!!! We finished Fire Safety week with visits to(Butterflies) and from(Caterpillars) the BV Fire Department.  McGruff, our puppet fire safety dog, sang songs for us.  We learned all about the help we receive from fire fighters. During the firefighter's visit to the Caterpillar class Mr.Josh showed us how he gets dressed to fight a fire.

Short week #2

Both Caterpillar and Butterfly classes had the opportunity for scissor practice this week.  Our supply of magazines and calendars was put to good use as the children searched for the letter 'J' or pictures of things beginning with 'J'.

Teachers, volunteers, and children alike are slowly discovering the safest most efficient ways to move from our new classroom to other areas we use: playground, bathroom, front door.  A reminder from Mrs. Schaefer is all they need to keep their right hand ready for the railing as we head up the stairs to go home.

Enjoy the long weekend, see you next week for Halloween!  Permission slips for Trick or Treating will be handed out Mon. and Tues.

Things are a-changing...

L week brought changes to the Caterpillar class, not only are the leaves outside changing color, but we added 2 new students this week in the classroom  Welcome to Landon and Lyla, new smiling faces.  Our established students were very helpful and willing to explain how things work here at BVPS.  An art project to tear colored paper and make Fall trees was popular, and also pinpointed those small muscles we need to use pencils and crayons effectively.
Butterflies leaf art was using the sides of crayons to make rubbings.
It was another Fun Friday for the Butterflies this week.  Miss Melanie brought several water activities to share: lovely coffee filter flowers, sponges in our initials, and experiments with disposable diapers and pinecones.  How much water will a diaper hold, anyway?  So much that it is very fat and heavy!  Pinecones change when put into a jar of water...they close up and look much smaller.
We played with scooters and the balance beam for our indoor recess-lots of successful alligator crawling.

Another short week next week-no school Thursday and Friday October 18 and 19 because of the Craft Fairs in the area.

Short week #1

October is a challenging month at Bella Vista PreSchool.  The first week of the month, we miss a Thursday and Friday to accommodate the United Methodist Women's Bazaar, and the third week we miss a Thursday and Friday to clear the roads for Craft Weekend.  So we try to pack our short weeks with lots of fun and activities.
T week meant trains and turtles, Thomas the Tank Engine and Teddy Grahams.  We welcomed a new student in each class, and watched the 'old' students show new friends the ropes.  Mrs. Lewis got a chance to teach on Wednesday, but lost the photos for this week somewhere on the computer...apologies!
A full week of L fun next week, welcoming Fall and the colorful changes it brings to the leaves.

We are aware of the problem

The Caterpillar IT experts took some time this week to explore the computer  We are stated with basic mouse practice.  Pictured below are three friends trying so hard to wait their turn.
The Butterflies had a wonderful Fun Friday with Miss Melanie!  The whole day was about bubbles.  Pictured below is Wesley working on bubble art.  We can't wait to see what Miss Melanie has in mind for the next Fun Friday.

Hard at work

Caterpillars hard at work.  Yes we all have jobs.  Here Bobby and Robert cook dinner. Kylee and Corbin work in the office.  Kaylee called Mrs. Schaefer to see if I need her to go to the store.  Unfortunately, Corbin ate the grapes before she could get them home and she had to go back.  These kids are really growing.  Great imaginations!

Let's Share

Let's share!  The butterflies enjoy inspecting all the fun things brought by friends for sharing.  It is our little Toast Masters time.  Everyone waits for their turn then tells the class all about their sharing. All the students get a chance to view the items up close before we put the things away.

Spreading a little sunshine

On Wednesday we spread some sunshine by painting with yellow paint.  Some friends painted the sun.  Some friends painted yellow bubble gum.  Some friends painted Mrs. Schaefer but we all had fun.

The girls say peek-a-boo in the kitchen.
